From Los Angeles to San Diego, Denver to D.C., and Detroit to San Francisco, Joseph has caught every flight, train and bus that would take him somewhere he could gain experience in public service. A veteran turned law student, now returned to active duty, Joseph feels a strong connection to BALIF's mission. New to the BALIF Board of Directors, Joseph's contribution priorities include strengthening outreach to all Bay Area law schools, increasing law school student membership, and student scholarships.

A University of San Diego Alum, Joseph is a former Navy Explosive Detection K-9 Handler, serving overseas from 2004 to 2007. While earning a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Philosophy he served as intern to Congresswoman Susan Davis, and President of the USD LGBT Pride Alliance. In 2010, Joseph was deposed by the Department of Justice in Washington D.C. and later testified before U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips in the landmark case that ruled the military's former Don't Ask Don't Tell policy unconstitutional and unenforceable. In spring of 2014, Joseph was selected for and awarded one of four law contracts in the Western United States by the Marine Corps. He is expected to commission as a second lieutenant August 8th, 2014 and serve in the JAG Corps. following his graduation from law school. Joseph currently serves as Co-President of the USF St. Thomas More Society, Vice President of USF Pride Law, and Co-President and Co-Founder of Young Adult LGBT Christians at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in the Castro.
