Dear BALIF Supporters,
It is with a heavy heart that we write to announce that we have made the difficult decision to move our 42nd Annual BALIF Gala, scheduled for March 4, 2022 at 7 pm, to a virtual format rather than holding an in-person event as planned.
When we chose “Strength in Unity”' as this year’s theme, it was a testament to our belief that 2022 would be the year we may once again gather as a community face-to-face. We, like so many of you, always look forward to the Gala and are eager to return to the in-person celebration we all know and love after last year’s virtual Gala. However, it has become clear that a live Gala just isn’t a feasible option for BALIF this year; the risk of COVID transmission, low event attendance, and reduced membership and sponsor support compared to years past remain an unfortunate reality for many organizations as the pandemic continues on, including ours. While the BALIF Gala Committee and Board Co-Chairs are incredibly disappointed by the shift, we are confident that it is in the best interest of BALIF and our membership overall.
Now more than ever, BALIF needs your support to continue our mission of leading the Bay Area LGBTQI+ legal community through advocacy, community empowerment, and professional development. It is only through your contributions that we may continue our incredible array of programming and events and, with any luck, return to an in-person Gala next year. Please purchase tickets and sponsorships, bid on items available through the BALIF Foundation’s online auction, and encourage your friends and loved ones to attend this year’s short virtual Gala.
For anyone who doesn’t want to wait another year to celebrate in a shared space, please join us at the official BALIF Gala Afterparty. We will be there with a bar tab and our dancing shoes to toast to a successful virtual 42nd Annual BALIF Gala with you. Details to be announced soon!
Thank you for your ongoing support of BALIF, and we look forward to seeing you online and at the BALIF Gala Afterparty on March 4th.
