Susan is our returning Chair of the Judiciary Committee. She has been practicing law long enough to feel “wise” and is a founding partner of Bluer & Bluer, LLP. This year, our Judicial Plebiscites will go on-line and we will help 100 LGBT lawyers get on the bench (wouldn't that be nice...)
Judiciary Committee Chair
Susan Bluer is a partner in the law firm of Bluer & Bluer, LLP in San Francisco, a firm she started in 2001 with her cousin Mark. She specializes in employment law on behalf of employees, and also represents various non-profit and small business employers. Prior to starting her own firm, Susan worked for several prominent law firms, including the employment law boutique, Curiale Hirschfeld & Kraemer. She was also a partner at the minority-owned law firm of Arnelle, Hastie, McGee, Willis & Greene. In addition to her law firm experience, Susan has experience working for two South Bay corporations, The Kinetics Group and Excite@Home.
Susan was born and raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley and received her law degree from Hastings College of the Law in 1986.
Susan believes in giving back to her community in as many ways as possible. She has been a generous contributor and volunteer on many local, state and national political campaigns. Her law firm has been a major contributor to the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), Equality California and Frameline. Further, Susan has served on many boards, including the LGBT Alliance for the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation (of which she was Chair from 2006-2008), San Francisco Women Lawyers Alliance, California Women Lawyers, and the Northern California Lawyers’ Council (the ACLU-NC Foundation’s fundraising partnership with lawyers, law firms, and legal scholars). She has served on the BALIF Board since May 2009 as the Chair of the Judiciary Committee.
Susan resides in San Francisco with her spouse, Jennifer Mannix, and their beloved pets.
