Shauna Madison, is a passionate, young attorney dedicated to advocating on behalf of underrepresented and underserved communities. Ms. Madison has experience in both civil litigation and criminal defense. After a year and a half as a plaintiffs’ side attorney specializing in elder abuse, consumer class actions, and consumer litigation, Ms. Madison decided to transition back to criminal defense. She is now a Deputy Public Defender at the Contra Costa County Public Defender’s Office.

During her tenure at USF Law, Shauna served as was a judicial extern for the Honorable Benjamin Gutman at the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board. Shauna also interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Federal Public Defender’s Office – Central District as well as the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office. Additionally, Shauna worked as a student attorney in USF’s Employment Law Clinic where she provided pro-bono legal services to federal employees, merchant mariners, and domestic workers.

In her spare time, Shauna enjoys traveling to her hometown (Los Angeles, CA), exploring the Bay Area and discussing ways to bring about positive social change.
