Nas Yasin is a Deputy Public Defender in Santa Clara County. She is a first-generation lawyer and immigrant, and comes from a family of Refugees from Afghanistan. She holistically represents community members in their cases from arraignment to trial. Aside from being a trial Attorney and Litigator, a big part of what Nas does is work with local nonprofits and community organizations to get Clients connected to support and services. Nas is also a lecturer at Santa Clara University School of Law where she is an adjunct law professor. She enjoys mentoring others and helping other First-Gen folks navigate the legal world, as well as building more inclusive spaces for students of color, and first-Gen students.

Additionally Nas is the Director/Cofounder of Arzo Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at providing humanitarian assistance to Victims of War in Kabul. Nas is passionate about helping others and is involved in a lot of community organizing and mutual aid work. She belongs to organizations such as the Santa Clara County Chapter of La Raza, SABA (South Asian Bar Association). She actively engages in building community with other affinity organizations to help support one another.

When Nas isn’t wrapped up in the legal word she really enjoys taking her Dogs, Cali and Lily on adventures and hanging out with them, traveling, cooking, going to the beach, hanging out with family and friends, playing guitar, going to concerts, and writing poetry.
