We invite your Firm/Company to sponsor BALIF, the oldest and largest LGBT Bar Association. Your sponsorship of BALIF will fund law student scholarships and mentor programs, CLE, Amicus briefs on LGBT issues, LGBT recruiting, social events for LGBT lawyers and more. In exchange for your sponsorship, you will receive the benefits listed below, including complimentary tickets to BALIF’s 32nd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala––Celebrating San Francisco Values on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The Gala is BALIF’s largest annual event with more than 600 attendees, including lawyers, judges, lawmakers, legal professionals, students, and in-house counsel. Don’t miss it!

This year’s levels and benefits for sponsorship are as follows:

Partner Level: $5,000

Priority recognition as a Partner-level sponsor through the end of calendar year 2012 on BALIF website, in BALIF newsletter, and at all BALIF sponsored functions, including firm logo displayed at Gala event, BALIF MCLE events, monthly networking receptions and law student functions.
Admission for ten people to 32nd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala.
Admission to VIP reception at Gala with in-house counsel, judges, BALIF Board of Directors and National LGBT Bar Association Board members.
Custom, full-page Gala program advertisement.

Advocate Level: $2,500

Priority recognition as Advocate-level sponsor through end of calendar year 2012 on BALIF website, in BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2012 Gala materials.
Admission for ten people to 32nd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala.
Custom, half-page Gala program advertisement.

Benefactor Level: $1,500

Priority recognition as Benefactor-level sponsor through end of calendar year 2012 on BALIF website, in BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2012 Gala materials.
Admission for five people to 32nd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala.
Custom, quarter-page Gala program advertisement.

Individual Sponsorship: $500

Priority recognition as Individual sponsor through end of calendar year 2012 on BALIF website, in BALIF newsletter, and in all printed and online 2012 Gala materials.
Admission for one person to 32nd Annual Dinner and Awards Gala.

If you respond by February 17, 2012, your sponsorship will appear on the electronic invitations and in all other publicity for the Gala. You must respond, and your payment must be RECEIVED, by February 29, 2012 for your sponsorship and advertisement to appear in the Gala program. Horizons Foundation to Hold 3rd Annual LGBT Golf Fore Good Women's Gold Tournament (18 May 2012)

Horizons Foundation will hold its 3rd annual LGBT Golf Fore Good Women's Golf Tournament at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo , California on May 18, 2012. The 18-hole tournament will benefit grant-making, donor education, leadership development, and philanthropic advocacy for the non-profit organization. Registration and sponsorships are still available.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble "best-ball" format, and all skill levels are encouraged. There will be several sponsored contests throughout the course, with prizes ranging from trophies to a $10,000 cash prize. The tournament will be followed by a reception and after-party, which will include entertainment and a hosted bar. Registration begins at 11:00AM and the shotgun start is at 1:00PM on May 18, 2012. Registration is $125 per person or $450 per team of four, and includes greens and cart fees, lunch, and the reception and after-party. Registration forms are available at www.horizonsfoundation.org. Players can also register by calling 415.398.2333 x103. Admission is $25 for those who wish to join for the reception and after-party, but are not registered golfers.

Reminder: The National LGBT Bar Association is now accepting submissions for the Michael Greenberg Writing Competition, the International Association of LGBT Judges Student Writing Competition and the Student Leadership Award.

Michael Greenberg Student Writing Competition

Established in memory of Michael Greenberg, a former National LGBT Bar Association board member and Philadelphia attorney who died in 1996 from complications with AIDS, this exciting competition is dedicated to encouraging and recognizing outstanding law student scholarship on the legal issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons. International Association of LGBT Judges Student Writing Competition

For the first time, the International Association of LGBT Judges will be sponsoring a writing competition for all law students attending the 2012 Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair. This is an exciting opportunity for law students to speak directly to members of the United States judiciary. Please click here to read full competition details.

Student Leadership Award

The National LGBT Bar Association's Student Leadership Award is the organization's highest honor for law students. The 2012 Student Leadership Award will be presented at a special reception at the 2012 Lavender Law® Conference & Career Fair. Please click here to read full award details.

Timeline

All three student awards will follow the same final submission date of Sunday, May 20, 2012. Late entries will not be considered. AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP) Presents 2012 Major Donor Party (23 May 2012)

ALRP has launched its 2012 One for All Major Donor Campaign, an effort to raise $80,000 from individual donors to support ALRP legal programs for people with HIV/AISD. The campaign runs through May 31st.

During the campaign, ALRP is hosting a 2012 One for All Major Donor Party from 5:30-7:3-pm on Wednesday, May 23rd at The Plant Cafe (Pier 3/The Embarcadero, San Francisco). That evening ALRP will be honoring Keith C. Wetmore, Esq., Chair of Morrison & Foerster LLP with its 2012 James C. Hormel Philanthropist Award, and the Silva Watson Moonwalk Fund with its 2012 Community Partner Award.

ALRP's 2012 One for All Major Donor Party is FREE to all 2012 donors who make a contribution of $250 or more. POST-FINALS/ PRE-BAR SOIREE (25 May 2012)

Calling all Law Students! BALIF's is hosting a "Post-Finals/Pre-Bar" happy hour at the Lookout in the Castro next Wednesday(5/23) from 6pm-8pm. The event is designed to let off some finals steam, celebrate the 2012 graduating class, and help motivate those who are beginning to prepare for the bar. If you are an attorney please join us! 3L's need advise from successful bar examinees. There will be nosh and drink tickets available (we have a private bar).

Pride Law Fund Bay Cruise

Please join us for a sunset cruise on the bay aboard the USS Potomac. Also known as the “Floating White House,” the Potomac served as Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Presidential Yacht until his death in 1945.

We will be tasting wine and enjoying scrumptious hors d’oeuvres. All proceeds will benefit the important work of Pride Law Fund, promoting the legal rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community.

The 2012 Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair will be held August 23-25, 2012 at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington , DC . The annual event is a gathering of prominent members of the LGBT legal community and is attended by hundreds of practicing attorneys, corporate counsel, legal scholars, law students and members of the judiciary.

The three-day event draws over 1,500 attendees and features workshops on topics such as employment and labor law, transactional business practice, constitutional law, diversity on the bench, family law, HIV/AIDS, immigration and leveraging diversity in today's economic climate. This year's programming will continue to focus on continuing legal education (CLE) opportunities for attendees, including intellectual property, patents, trademarks, corporate governance, complex business litigation and employment law issues from both the management and plaintiffs' perspective, among other matters.
